Affiliate disclosure
Last updated October 11, 2026
trail.deals makes money one way: when you click through to a retailer from this site and buy something, some retailers pay us a commission. This page is the plain version of how that works, written to meet the FTC's endorsement guidelines and, more to the point, so you know.
Which links
Every "Check price" and "Get it at" button leads to the retailer's own page for that item. Where we have an affiliate relationship with the retailer, the link carries a tag so the retailer knows the sale came from here. Where we do not, it is a plain link and we earn nothing. We participate, or have applied to participate, in affiliate programs run by outdoor retailers and brands directly and through networks such as Impact, CJ, Awin and AvantLink; this list changes as applications are approved.
What it costs you
Nothing. The commission comes out of the retailer's margin, and the price you pay is the price on their page whether you arrived from here or typed the address yourself.
What it does not change
- Which deals appear. A listing is published when its price and category meet the same rules for every retailer.
- How deals are ranked. Hot and Top are ordered by discount, recency and reader clicks. A retailer that pays nothing ranks exactly like one that pays.
- What the kits pick. Kit items are chosen by price and weight from lists we curate by hand.
- What the guides say. No retailer or brand reviews, sponsors or pays for editorial content.
What we do not do
We do not accept payment for placement. We do not run sponsored deals. We do not remove or demote a deal because a retailer pays little or nothing. We do not share your email with retailers.
Questions
Ask through the contact page. We would rather explain than be wondered about.
