Privacy policy
Last updated October 11, 2026
trail.deals is run by a small team of outdoor enthusiasts in Virginia, USA. This page says exactly what the site records about you, which is less than most sites, and how to make it stop.
What is collected when you browse
- A page-view record for each page you load: the path, the time, how you arrived (a referrer domain or a utm tag), and a one-day visitor hash. The hash is computed from the day, your IP address and your browser string and cannot be reversed; your IP address itself is never stored.
- A click record when you follow a link to a retailer: which listing, which part of the site the link was on, the referring page, and your browser string (used only to separate people from crawlers).
- One cookie,
td_src, which remembers how you first found the site for 30 days so we can tell which channels are worth the effort. It is first-party, contains no identifier, and is not used for advertising.
There is no advertising network, no Google Analytics, no social-media pixel, and no third-party script on these pages.
What is collected when you sign up
If you ask for the daily digest or a price watch, we store your email address, the time you signed up, what you asked to watch, and the page you signed up from. Every address is confirmed by email before anything is sent (double opt-in). Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes the watches and marks the address unsubscribed; write to us if you want the row deleted outright. Addresses are never sold, shared or used for anything but the mail you asked for.
Contact form
Messages sent through the contact page are emailed to the team and kept in that mailbox. They are not stored in the site's database.
Services that see some of your data
- Cloudflare serves the site and sees every request, including your IP address, as any CDN does. Its retention is governed by Cloudflare's own privacy policy.
- Resend delivers our email and therefore holds the addresses of subscribers while mail is in transit.
- Retailers and affiliate networks. When you click through to a retailer you leave this site. Some of those links carry an affiliate tag, and the retailer or its network may set their own cookies to attribute a purchase. That happens on their site, under their policies. See our affiliate disclosure.
Retention
Page-view and click records are kept to measure the site and are not tied to a person. Subscriber records are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion.
Your choices and rights
Unsubscribe links work immediately. To have any record about you deleted or sent to you, use the contact page with the email address in question; we answer within a week. Residents of California, the EU and the UK have the rights their laws give them and may exercise them the same way.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date above changes and the digest will say so.
